looking good

more updated pics of my midas and a couple of random shots of tankmates. taken 1st April 2009. he/she is at least 5" but wont stay still to get a pic with the tape measure, i was lucky to quickly sneak it up to the tank and get a rough size as the midas doesnt like it.

i have an 11" barred with a 5" possibly female in my 80 gallon.
they're doing fine!

just moved them to a new house too.
got them a new light.

anyone with more midas experience than me happen to know what kind of midas he may be now he is 5" or so and probably should have peeled by now.

HAHA!!! Didn't I say when you first posted up that he/she may not peel?!?! LOL Yeah I love it!:D

Looks female but not 100% sure. Peeling wouldv'e already taken place by now so I would say its a Barred variation. Looks a bit Amarillo to me but there are soo many barreds out there I get lost..:(

How is the temperment? Looks absolutely healthy! You're doing a great job!!

yeah you did say that lol, i noticed some red islete (sp?) pics and mine looks an awful lot like that most of the time. the temperament isnt too bad for the most part. the jewel takes a bit of crap for getting in the way and taking food as the midas is about to get it but the female con seems to have free reign around the whole tank and stealing food from the midas' mouth.
the CAE is still feared but the midas doesnt run away like it used to so im guessing midas is gonna be born again hard sometime soon.

cheers for the kind words on the health. eats like a pig, begs constantly and sticks its head out the water for me to drop pellets in. midas also mistakes my fingers for pellets when it jumps out the water in excitement at breakfast. even splashed me a couple of times. definitely a fun fish to have.

Pics are no good and not in a good focus, but still acceptable. But with a fish that nice on them they are good enaugh.
Gl with him and the photographing.
