So people are just labeling "wild caught" on anything they think is because ...its different?:screwy:

Put the bong down smokey.

Its not wild caught unless you caught it or purchased it from a reputable vendor/collector with a legitimate reputation for carrying such.

I agree, I've seen JDs with a lot of red in them at petsmart. That doesn't have anything to do with them being wild caught or not--either they were fished out of a river in CA or they weren't. In your case, I very seriously doubt they were OP.

Looking at this it sounds snide...I didnt mean it to be. I was just joking around. Sorry if it comes across as offensive OP.

Ive seen red wine variant collected in Belize from UMBEEKING He collected and brought back male and females

they have a red color to them nice crown and long fins....short nose beautiful specimens

we may go collect in 2011 look out mfk these guys are very nice and may be avalible .
.

Yes, Ive seen JDs with red as well. My grandfather helped build the Panama Canal and had lots of pictures of fish he caught and ate while in Panama and the surrounding areas.

Ive always thought that JDs were first red when they came into the hobby and were eventually line bred to be blue. Look at (if you can find any) pics of JDs from the 40s, 50s & 60s.

Yep, I see them there with red as well. Someone on here has a post on some red ones they picked up at an LFS somewhere. Completely red morph of a JD.

I don't see anyone butt sore over your fish, but if you don't know the origin you can't legitimately call them wild caught.
