Update on my piggy snapper

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sanpping turtles are my favorite animals. Wish I could keep one properly. When I was younger, I fed the snapper I had at the time, soft cat food pellets. He loved them, and i loved feeding him. He got fat, real fat. I miss him. released him when he got too big, it was the 70s and all I had was a 20 gallon.

Nice turtle you have there!

Not all that fast. I have had him since he was nickel size about 2 month ago maybe less and he is now larger than a half dollar. constantly shedding.

Thanks man. Next setup for him will be a indoor 200 gallon koi pond i think.

Is that how you get him UVB? My friend gave me one to look after for awhile. I think I'll take it out for a walk tomorrow. Got a bulb on him but might as well add the natural sun, too.

Has yours ever bitten you? My friend was wondering if they can be hand-tamed like birds.

Never tried to bite me, but he does snap at the cleaning hose when cleaning out his tank. He does not like intruders in his territory. I handle him all the time, most of the time doe does not mind at all, but sometimes he tried as hard as he can to get away.
