Look at the healthy growth of Hygrophila Difformis! The plant add some life and color to the tank!

Strangely the wife is actually the agressor but she's getting more banged up than the husband. Don't know why, I have even witnessed the 'kissing'.

You know when they say love can kill, it is only half joking.

Got no experience with tems, but with my monos the female was definitely the aggressor. She would chase my male all over the tank. Did this for a couple of weeks before the first mating.

lets hope your tems are successful!!! just because no one else has done it doesn't mean that you can't.

^ well said!

Rio the tems are looking great.. their colors are prob better then any other tem i have seen in a tank... how big are they now?

Thanks for the encouragement guys! Let's keep our fingers crossed.

The bigger male is 19 inch and 17 inch for female. Both less than 1 1/4 yrs old. Predictably the male grow very much faster than the female, it took him less than two weeks to develop the gonad (deep body). pH around 6 to 6.5 and I try my best to maintan the temp around 87 to 89 F. I suppose those lagoons where they spawn in the wild are just as warm, as they are not connected to cooler streams or rivers.

Just sharing some wild thoughts with all; we know that small pbass get ick easily in cooler water, maybe one of the enviromental cues for the adults to spawn is WARM water. Spawning waste plenty of energy, so it pays to do it during the most conducive period to maximize results. Hope this makes sense. ;)

Boosten, I am fairly certain these are not farm bred.
