So what do you guys think.. Is this a pair worth breeding or will it produce low grade fry? I'm only looking to breed flowerhorns if they are going to produce fry better than LFS grade's.

Both the parents look LFS grade to me, but they are still small. I like the male's head, but I don't think they're above LFS grade fish, so crossing them will only create more LFS quality fry. So-so pearling, long body shape, average finnage. You would get some fry with the father's head and the mother's color; that would be better than the parents look now, but far from a masterpiece. The female has nice flowers, but nothing else really stands out about her as being above "average." She also shouldn't be getting beaten up like that if you're breeding them correctly, with your divider. Have you bred fh before?

i think you will get a few that look great from the breeding. yes the male a lower grade from walmart, true. but your female is from thai and those genes will help his genes. i think you will get a few decent males&females from them, or at least a few that look better then daddy.

I like the dad. I prefer my flowerhorns without flowerline. He's got a nice size head, fins, and his color looks good in the right tank. I know how to breed flowerhorns I just put these 2 together the other day. I could have divided them but I know this male isn't going to kill her. I'd rather let them get used to each other and breed without a divider.

Growing nicely
