nice
my rio nanays are still in a bare quarantine tank for now.
how did your get that nice gold color? is it the lighting along with the tannins?
i am wondering if i want to go with the traditional white sand that's supposed to be the el natural of the amazon or something a bit more natural. i dig the looks of your tank - it's showy but not stark like some traditional wc discus tanks that hold true to the whole white sand, some branches look :)

ewok, I did'nt go with pool filter sand. I have carib-sea gold. it looks dark in the catalog but it's really light tan. it's on the expensive side at 20.00 for a 20 lb. bag but it comes wet, so no rinsing. I tend to suck up sand with my python. I put a small bucket under the faucet. when I start filling I dump the sand back in. no clouding at all. the only bad thing is you can see every bit of crap and it bothers me a bit as I'm a clean freak when it comes to my tank.

just wondering what species the plant is you've got growing right on the surface of the water?
