awesome setup.
plus sweet congicus bro.

Thanks brutha, glad you enjoyed it :)

Very nice growth. Looks to have darkened up quite a bit. He must eat like a champ.
Well I'm bored time to go to the LFS. They have a 12" lap for $50 but I think he might eat a few tankmates.

Yeah double in size in 2 months is not bad at all lol he eats around 10 pellets of massivore per meal.

Did you get the lap? Piiiiiics! :D

nice congi!

Thank you

No I didn't get the lap. He's just too big for the other tankmates. Even though I don't think the lap would do it but I still have my small endlis.

I want to try out the massivore but it is something like $33 a bag(not sure on the size but sure it's nothing bigger then a pound). I just can't see myself paying that much. How does it benefit them in a way that a varied diet of shrimp, BW's, tilapia, earthworms, krill(sinking pellets, none of my fish eat frozen or freeze-dried) and the occasional WC mono pbass:( can?

Good question, massivore has added vitamins for one, which combined with it's high protein content make it an ideal food for carnivorous fish. It's basically everything they need in one pellet, rather than having to feed several types of foods.

I've read a couple papers which researched the stomach contents of wild polypterus and it boasted low diversity in diet. Senegalus and endlicheri from the same lake both had stomachs filled mainly with tilapia, and a small fraction of insect material.

I don't use shrimp anymore because I've read it contains high levels of thiaminase, an enzyme that breaks down a form of vitamin B that is used in cell development.

BW's really only work for smaller bichirs, the big ones need something more filling and easier to eat.

Damn!

That thing is looking killer... :headbang2

I could be getting one of these on Wed (joke) .... I ordered a "polypterus palma" from the same store I ordered my "delhezi" from... So it's a crapshoot. :headbang2... :grinno:
