The way the tank looks "now" is pretty cool. It gives that amazonian look.

But IMO, it would be awesome if you had a background, either black or dark blue would really high light the fishes natural beauty.

Either way, its a beautiful setup you have and its occupants. :headbang2

needs a blackground

I agree !!!!! Lets see if the water changes and "preparing " the wood helps, are you planning on a background ? I am on the whole "black" look right now too, I think your tank looks good!

If you paint the back black you won't notice the colour ANYWHERE near as much!

The white wall is just highlighting the off coloured water

I'm going to get a black background.......

yeah, but you gotta boil the wood to get rid of most of the tannins. rinse and boil about 5 time for 20 minutes each. Then do a 30% water change. Then add carbon to your filter. If you use a cannister filter, then cut the let of a old stocking, rinse it, then add the carbon inside the stocking and tie a knot. This can be placed in a tray in the filter.

nice tank.
if it looked like that before the wood then thats the problem.lol
im using a tupperware in the backyard.
throw the wood in it,fill with water, let sit for months "or till the water stays clear.
do water changes once in a while "just tip it over and refill".lol
its not fast like boiling but it works.
my wood is about done.
water was real dark at first, now it stays clear.
not sure on time frame but i would say its been about 2-3 months.
in your case it would be shorter cus its been soaking already.
:D

Well I boiled it and I did a 50% water change. Then another 35% water change 3 days later and It got better.I was pretty clear for almost a mounth. But now it turning brown again,Thats why I hate wood but it looks nice.lfs said to put a uvsterilizer and to get a RO unit, should I buy all this or no????????
