I just got this letter from the United Pet Group. I don't have a scanner, but the photos I took are pretty legible.

It sounds like pretty much all of the heaters above 25W are affected. The fact that someone was injured probably made them decide to step up the recall campaign.

Those people that have decided not to trade in their Stealths should definitely reconsider. They are a poor-quality product and they really should not be used in any tank where you care about the inhabitants.

Thanks for the update, and it's about DAMN TIME they admit there's a problem. Just one comment...the guy that injured his eye. WTF was he doing holding a plugged in heater in his hand???? :duh:

Would it be okay if I used your pictures of the letter to post on another forum?

No problem, spread the word!

So can i still just take it back to the store with the copy of the letter and the reciept and get a different one. Or do i have to call the UPG. If so what heater are they gonna send me some cheap $20 heater.

Honestly taking it to Petsmart is probably the easiest option. You don't need a package, a receipt, nothing. Just take in all the Stealth heaters you have. They'll give you an exchange or store credit. Some people have even gotten cash. They don't care when or where you bought it.
