I was a central/south american cichlid fanatic at the time, but my older brothers got me into the victorians and malawian peacocks. Thanks for the compliment, the fish in the avatar is a juvenile male kyoga flameback. It's not mine, credit goes to Structureguy from cichlidforums. I am getting a colony of the kyoga flamebacks soon though. :)
Lol, it was the opposite for me. I liked the color of the african cichlids, still do, but they can't replace the personality of the beast New Worlds. Though, I would love to have some setups dedicated to Africans some time in the near future. :D

Also, urban, do you know what generation your fish is? Or was it a pet store lfs pick up? Or did you get it as a fry from a member? Or did you breed the parents yourself and pick that fry out?:nilly:

naw dont know what generation it is but the clerk at the lfs said F0 or F1 he couldn't remember cause he had 2 batches that were the same size.

Nice!

Urbaninja: I am in Central Cal.

Fish on Fire: Yeah, I loved the central/south american cichlids because of their size, personality and their brute force. But I decided to switch to africans because I just felt attached to the victorian cichlids. But, someday, I will get more central/south american cichlids.

unreal jag, mines 11" and doesnt have that much colour.... I have a feeling its because he isnt the dominant fish in my tank, alyways kind of shy and getting pushed around

Very nice!!! Complex pattern too.
