Here are some pictures of my endli. It’s around 7” now and growing quite fast. As you can see in the pictures, this endli is getting quite fat. Lol. The markings are fading but I expect that they will come back once it is moved into the 220 with substrate. It will probably only be another two or three months before I can move it into the 220 and I expect it will be nearly 9-10” by that time. I’m looking forward to seeing it go into the big tank.

Let me know what you all think of this endli!

I have seen it eat some shrimp pellets readily, but it won’t touch Hikari Carnivore pellets yet. I have even fed them with the worm in the hopes that it would engulf a few by accident and pick up a taste for them. But, that was a no go.

My polys never really cared for hikari except for one pbb. Weird i know.

At this size i would stop the worms completely until it readily accepts the pellets you want it to eat and the pellets that your fish in the 220 are eating.

My fire eels eat night crawlers and frozen foods, but they won’t touch pellets. My vultures eat almost exclusively Hikari Massivore. It will be a challenge to get food to it in the 220 because the fire eels clean up the frozen food and night crawlers very quickly, and the vultures immediately grab the pellets when the lights go out. I might have to get a pvc tube and work out some target feeding.

The vultures are the primary reason i think you need to get this guy on pellets and tilapia. Starve him dont worry at this size it wont impact his growth.

I might have to try to find some different pellets that it will like. Then, maybe I can try mixing Massivore into those and get it on that. Main reason I like Massivore is due to its size. If I had to feed my vultures smaller pellets then they would easily need a hundred pellets per feeding. Right now, they clean up 20 Massivore pellets almost immediately. I think that is a pretty healthy serving for them every three days at their size of about 12-14”. However, they don’t start feeding until the lights go off, so if I could get the endli eating pellets with the lights on, then it could get some pellets down before the lights go off and then the vultures can clean up the rest once I turn off the lights.

Now, getting the bass fed will be a different story since they like top it midwater foods. I might try to get them on a good floating pellet so that they can have at those while the fire eels eat everything else. Lol. Any good floating carnivore pellets that you all recommend? Preferably something that will be available in a larger size as they get bigger?

I should mention that I will probably start cutting down my stock as this endli and my bass get moved into my bigger tank and start putting on some size. I can’t see getting rid of one of the vultures since they spend so much time with each other and appear to be more comfortable with one another around. However, I can possibly see getting rid of one or two of the fire eels at that point. I hate to get rid of any of them, but I always knew that three of them wouldn’t work out in this tank in the long run, and they pretty much stay separated unless it’s feeding time. Obviously, the plan is for the endli to stay, but if for some reason it gets aggressive as it grows, then that could change. As for the bass. I will probably keep them until they are near 18-20” and then rehome them. My LFS takes all fish to rehome them, and they work with Big Rich’s fish rescue to take very large fish. That is a last resort if I need it, but I will try to find proper homes for them first. Anyway, these are the plans at the moment, but of course that is subject to change as time goes on and the fish grow up.

Love his markings! Does he have a name?

Wholeheartedly agree. Now is the time to strike - when you can control it in the small tank. You should be able to convert to tilapia and massivore now and it might even help his growth since there will be more variety. Lots of people swear by the massivore and growth.

I don't know many polys that will turn their nose up at fish - you should easily be able to get him to eat tilapia or silversides. So I'd start with the massivore conversion first, personally - if they're too big break them up. I fed broken up massivore to my smaller upper jaws no problem.

I know I sound like a broken record but I strongly feel that variety is important for the health and longevity of any animal, including our fish. :)
