These two guys are doing awesome. They are growing nicely and getting fat. The kelberi is finally getting some nice spangling on the anal fin too. I'm hoping to get a couple of mono's again to join these. I really miss my old mono's.

kelberi 9" and pinima 11" approx. I really got to find some mono's this size too. Not enough cichla in the tank.

Thanks. He's taking a long time to develop so I'll have to be patient to see how he turns out.

Yeah be patient thats the key with keeping kelberi. Not all of them develope fast and thats why you see lots off people selling off their "ugly" kelberi. Little do they know that most of the time they are just not fully developed and just need a little more time. My 12" female kelberi is still developing. Im seeing more spots on the anal fin developing every day so yours will be be nice at 12" :)

That pinima is hawt! Can't believe I've never had one...

It's the best cichla I've ever raised. He looked amazing at 4", was easy to get on pellets and grows pretty quickly too. I think a group of pinima and a group of piquiti would be my ideal cichla tank.

Back when he was a baby.

Exactly. Some people say negative things about Kelberi and think they are overrated. That's just because they only ever see pictures of ones under 10 inches.
