Bull sharks not only target damn near anything moving they travel up rivers and streams for many miles, There is even a subspecies in Venezuela that is fresh water. Even so dogs kill many times more people each year in U.S. alone than sharks do worldwide. My suggestion is that we all eat more dog and don't worry about it. Surfers look like big skipbaits from below but more people are killed by boats than sharks.

As an aside, I stayed in a Club Med in Mazatlan once and they give you this elastic band to hold your key that you are supposed to wear around your ankle while swimming/snorkling. Good idea huh? glad we dont get shark attacks around my waters, to dam cold, the biggest shark we have around would probably be a leopard shark.
Where are you from? Salmon sharks, whaler sharks, and greenland sharks are all cold water specie that have been known to eat people, of course since none of the recorded attacks were witnessed the people might already have been dead.DeLgAdO said:

I posted what I thought, it was a TRAGEDY, and INSTEAD of closeing the
beach they kept it OPEN.....and a few days later some boy ends up with his leg torn off?

But. that doesnt take away from what we do to these creatures on a WHOLESALE basis. I have worked on fishing vessels that were after marlin and swordfish and inadvertently caught sharks. Guess what, they killed them. THAT is a waste!
(Again..PETA members dont work on fishing vessels that catch broadbills do they?)
We kill tons of them every year...sometimes to feed people that just like the taste, sometimes for sport, sometimes because they are in the way while we are catching more desirable prey.

I live in chula vista, CA. its by san diego, im pretty sure we dont get any of these guy around here, I said cold not freezing, well maybe to them east coastern people our waters are warm, but im a native so i dont consider them WARM!

As for the shark thing, we hardly ever get shark bite reports here, but there are a
lot of big sharks in our waters.

off la jolla?
