Thanks everyone for the great comments. Its an awesome fish, and I cant wait to see how "it" develops in the next few months. M1stea2tea, as for growth rate, he has grown pretty rapidly. Alot faster than I thought actually. So far, its growing as fast as a normal jd would I would say. I feed him mini cichlid gold pellets as a staple, and everyone few days ill give him part of a cube of brine shrimp, or blood worms. I also have some cichlid veggie pellets with garlic that he eats the hell out of, but they sink so I dont feed them often cause sometimes he doesn't eat them even if I drop them right in front of his face. Then they spoil at the bottom. I pre soak all the pellets in the shot glass before feeding, because he wont eat them solid out of the bad, which is normal for my african peacock cichlids as well. A bunch of picky eaters lol. I would say hes taken on a half inch maybe more, but the biggest development has to be his color change, and the development of all his finnage.
This is my first thread I posted here alittle over a month ago, and I had just gotten him. Good size difference, but mostly a large color difference. Keep in mind I used a flash in the picture in that thread, so the colors are probably a bit bleached out.

very nice looking fish. looks like a "he" to me, but that's just my impression. Glad you're having better luck with yours than I did with mine.
