-great looking specimen; and yes, a spotted gar for sure! this specimen does a good job of showing off some of the very nuanced differences (but not singularly dependable) between FLGs and SPGs. good luck with the specimen and watch for that catfish "watching" your gar!--

Thanks for confirming

Did you see my husbands post here? http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?502065-Pics-of-my-gars
He has better pics of this one and two others he recently got out of a farm ditch. They are very prevalent around here. In the thousands I'd say in some areas of the river.
I don't think my catfish will bother them. He doesn't even bother my 8" suncat or the even smaller sleeper goby. The only live fish he seems to dislike are sunfish. Tried 'em in there twice, and no luck. He doesn't try to eat them. He carries them around in his mouth until they die and spits them out.
The only live food he'll eat are crawfish, worms, and clams (I didn't put clams in there for food, but apparently he swallows them whole and then spits the empty shells out....I won't be putting those in again).
He won't even eat crickets or other bugs. Very discerning for a catfish. :\
