the 12" estimate was based on only several specimens, and the aqualog author noted that this estimate might not be accurate due to the small sample size and those specimens could be juveniles.

anyway the first one toyin got was already at 14" and has gotten larger since then from what i was told.

yes the 8"-10" ones he has this time around are what i call the little guys. he has a couple in the 13"-15" range, including one thats a little larger. anyway, i agree i think they can get at least as big as the smallest of the lower jaw species.

ya thats what i thought, hopefully it wont outgrow my tank too fast :) hell, mabe they get even bigger than the other species, we wont know till a few of us grow some out :) ittle be fun, being some of the first to be able to determine the actual max size of these fellas....

wehn i get mine im gonna do a elaborate log of its growth, its reaction to my other bichirs, and hopefully gather enuff to write a good profile on them :)

im just WWWAAAAYYYY to excited, ive wanted one of these fellas scicne i forst started keeping bichirs :)

and now im trying to figure out how to get another one of my favortie fish on the planet (a momryrid from the genus Mormyrus) from MD to california, without a high risk of loss.......
