I am under the impression that the most reliable way to sex a Red Terror is to look for a spot on the dorsal fin which would indicate a female…
Since your fish doe not have a spot on the dorsal fin I would suggest it is a male… although it may be too young to have developed this spot… It also may be to young to rely on other sexing concepts…
How do you “know” your Blue Dempsey is a male? Most Blue Dempseys that survive to adulthood turn out to be males, and yours very well may be… but there is no way to sex them at smaller sizes…
Just so you know… if by some chance the Red Terror and the Blue Dempsey were to spawn… the offspring would not show the Blue color… The offspring would look exactly like a Standard JD/RT hybrid.
