Good that the Rays are recovering Dave, all Rays should have some kind of substrate imo,the sands a little deep for me, i would lift those Fluvals up to the surface also, they will pick up the sand otherwise and the impeller shaft will last only a very short time.
Nice tank and fish!

yer there that low so i dont have to turn them off to do WC lol. there is actually 4 in there. the sand is quite deep yes, i bought 3 25kg bags and 2 wasent quite enough and once ide opend the 3rd thought i might as well put the lot in.

do you guys do black sand at wharf?
do you sell the very very small round pea gravel? i used to use it and loved it but carnt find it anywere.

looks fantastic! Both the tank and the fish are superb. tanks size?

I noticed your E300's all show a blue screen indicating the tanks temp is lower than your preset temp. Do you find they are like this all the time? I find that mine do the same thing, i set mine at 29C but they hover around 27-27.5C.
tank size is 7x3x2, its just a temp tank as my plan is to have an 11x3x2.5 as soon as i can afford it or the bank will give me a loan lol.

the E300 are blue because ide just done a waterchange mate. they heat up to 29c nicely and only go blue while i do WC.

how cold is the room your tank is in? maybe they are struggling to get it up to temp.

Nice to see everything looking up for you. Rays are looking good!

By the way, is that basic pool filter sand or something different?

its simply called BD TRADING sand mate, sold for aquariums. its the one type of sand that is easy to get. anything different is a challenge.

thanks for your comments guys.

im thinking the cloudy water is because i changed all the filter floss of this new stuff i thoughgt ide try from SERA. i dident read the bag but is says it MUST be washed in warm tap water first! strange neevr had to wash fliterfloss before but its says it has to be so this is probably the reason.

Your right you cant get the really nice pale round gravel anymore,it was called dorset gravel Dave, thing is you can Dorset gravel still but its collected from a totally different area,is much darker and sharper......not as good unfortunately.
Im using black gravel sand at the moment, great looking stuff it is,its not jet black though but its as close as you will get,my Rays look awesome on it.Its also quite big grained which stops compaction but very easy for the Rays to cover themselves if they feel the need.
I will take some pictures tonight and post them on this thread for you to have a look.

Here they are....not as dark as i thought but to be honest i think it looks better than jet black, both brown and black Rays look good on it....what do you guys think?
Ive took a photo of the tiny Pearl , with you also having Pearls,it will give you an idea of what yours would look like on it.
Nikki C is using it on her Ray tank, shes very pleased with it.

I am pleased with it and would not go back to sand now. The rays seem to like and have no problem hiding if they wish.

Here is a picture of my tank
