I made some re-arrangements to my tank. As opposed to my original plan with the elephant nose, I ended up getting an African Knife. I felt as if it were better choice and more suited for my tank since elephant noses are such shy fish. I also added a little rock structure for my knife because my driftwood cave is constantly being occupied by one of my Pimelodellas and would chase out my knife. I also got some new lights and a few new plants. I would really appreciate feedback!
Current stock
-1 x Polypterus senegalus
-1 x African Knife
-2 x 4-line Pimelodella
-2 x Satanoperca Jurupari
-1 x Ropefish

Also was contemplating on getting one or two more ropefish because I know that they enjoy the company of other ropefish, but I feel like my tank is already stocked as it is.

Overall looks amazing. I'd use darker gravel so you could see the sparkles on your jurupari. Actually, all your fish would look better on black gravel, but that's already a great set up. Looks more native north american than african, but it's easy on the eyes aside from the excessive whiteness.

Yes I feel the same way about the gravel. When I have time and money over the summer i'd love to do that

oh I also forgot to mention the substrate is large gravel mixed with some sand and smaller gravel for the juruparis because they like to sift through the smaller stuff and it is also beneficial for the plants.

Totally. I've had a few jurupari. My current one isn't too much of a gravel sifter, but the rest were.

I think it looks great. If you wanted to do it inexpensively you could fill in with pool filter sand since you have such large substrate in there now.

the name escapes me now but I have this black substrate called eco zyme or something similiar which would be perfect for your setup. It comes in black or brick red and it is for plants and geophagus sifters. It is kinda of expensive but looks really good. Also has minerals for plants better than sand. Maybe someone will chime in with the correct name. great looking tank by the way!

Nice looking tank! Even if you don't switch all the bottom gravel over you could add a few sections of sand divided by larger rocks or in a flower pot bottom with larger rocks covering the edges to hide it. It would be a bit more work to keep each section clean but could look really nice with those plants and fish.
