Updates from the 300

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No new updates but I thought I would share a few pics of polys of the past so that Polyaddict86 Polyaddict86 can get his poly fix for the day, lol.

These were the two that got me started on the path of the dark side:
Delhezi (named Darwin)

Sen with no name...

Then more followed
Albino sen (named Snowflake)
dsc03815.jpg

And then a gold dust
dsc03820.jpg

Well I couldnt leave well enough alone and the weeksii came next (Named Nessie, which I still have)
dsc03823.jpg

Then the fascination with lower jaws came... A whole other story.

To add a bit to the bichirs of the past:

My first lower jaw, a Koliba lap (Named Kolibasaurus Rex, Rex for short)
2409501

2409502

Those pics were of it still in quarantine and it was going to turn out to be a nice Koliba...

But then the unthinkable, it jumped! It was in a 75g with tight fitting glass tops but somehow managed to pop a top open and ended it all. Sadly I only had this fish for a weekend and it was a kick in the balls for my poly keeping for a little while.

So what next? a phase of more upper jaws to fill the Koliba void. At this point I had decide to only keep the weeksii and delhezi and here were the new ones

Palmas palmas
2426473

The trio, palmas palmas, gold dust and teugelsi
2430713

The teugelsi (Named Tweedle, which I still own)
2468011

The Teugelsi again with gold dust in the back
2574290

This is the point where the move/buy new house/remodel came into play and I got the 300 gallon. This was when all the smaller upper jaws went away and the new batch of lower jaws started. I only kept the weeksii and teugelsi.

Hopefully the little bit of story and poly pics from the past will keep Polyaddict86 Polyaddict86 happy until I can get real updates for you guys!

Whenever I knew a bigger poly was coming into the mix the smaller ones went away.

So when the weeksii came I decided to keep just him and the delhezi. Then when I realized my weeksii was very peaceful toward smaller polys and that is was not a genetic monster and would stay smaller I decided on another batch of upper jaws. When I wanted an endli and koliba, again it was rehome time. So I ended up with just the two upper jaws, weeksii and teugelsi and my current batch of lower jaws (Dabola endli, koliba lap, Faranah Guinea lap, Ansorgii)

So Ive had a lot of different polys over the years. the only two I sort of regret rehoming were my delhezi and palmas palmas. In the long run it was best because my endli really can bully the smaller polys.

Awesome video! I love those teugelsi. Wild caught for sure with the nice elongated bodies. I love the color and pattern on mone but totally wierd looking head and a bit short compared to the wc ones. Sadly I would rehome this guy if a better looking poly came along. I feel the same about the koliba. My first koliba that jumped was 100 times better looking. But I likely will keep mine because it is one of the more peaceful polys and just works in my mix.
