I got from 'madness' up in my area. Not sure if you know him. Anyway its been some years back now but I cant remember off the top of my head but it was not a COA fish or Rapps. All I remember was the seller was into weight lifting and loved fish. I will try and figure it out.

Ha, searched while typing this up and found it. It was from Gage at Chichlid Connection who no longer seems to be in business from the looks of things.

I got my CA cichlids including my pearsei from Gage of Cichlid Connection. They all came in blue water, lethatgic, and so tiny. My first taste of getting fish shipped. Looked like they were all gonna perish, lol

Back then we had group buys going and Gage was really on it and we got nice fish most times. I did get a bad batch of three baby pearsei that had horrible torn fins that had splits in their tails that would never be right. Basically a V or W shape due to the splits. Also all had bad head pitting that looked like hole in the head. Contacted Gage and he promised to make it right and to cull the fish. Well I did and it took a while but he made it right, in fact he got me a nice big male pearsei that I had been trying to get all along. This was the guy Porkchop beat on... I had him in a growout tank and was actually going to keep him and rehome Porkchop. Sadly the male cut itself on a glass thermometer that it somehow broke and it got cut up bad and died. So gave up on a man for Porkchop ever since.

This was the male. Was in a constant breeding dress with very dark belly. Awesome spangles in the fins too. It would have grown up to be quite the looker.

I remember that pic of the male. If you dont remember my son and i were trying to choose between bocourti and pearsei and the pic of that male was the nail in the coffin.

Its amazing the transformation they go through. From dirt mud colored to big green beasts.

Pearsei do require patience. They are very plain looking when young and have an awkward looking stage right before adulthood. But as adults are very rewarding fish with great personality.
