Updates from the 300

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
magpie magpie , I saw that you had to make the tough choice to re-home... It will all be worth it in the end. Getting a tank that you can do lower jaw in is worth the wait.

I will say that Wet Spot was a bit disappointing when it came to larger cichlid selection. I was looking at the red head cichlids (5") which looked like they were going through treatment since the water was blue and a few others but just could not see getting anything.

Was a bit discouraged but was kind of surprised when my wife reminded me I have a 65B that is empty in the garage and that I can raise something out. So I am thinking about what to raise now. I do miss the bumblebee oscar I used to have...

So time to think about a new tankmate or two

Kind of leaning toward another oscar varient, possibly a wild caught. Will have to be patient since they dont come around often. Ive also loved amphilophus and who knows another midas.... lots to think about in choices

A few lame pics but at least a real time update of some of the fish in the 300

The 3 laps. Nigerian in the front, Koliba in the middle and Faranah in the back.

Good old Nom Nom the Ansorgii always ready for a picture

Croc the Dabola Endli in back, Speck the Nigerian in front, tail of Koliba on left and head of Hulk the Faranah on right. Notice the Koliba still does not have a name, lol

Porkchop the pearsei says 'hi'. The tank really looks bare with just the two upper swimmers. This is were I really want to add something but another cichlid? Still thinking about this.

Just a blur but here is Monty the het. the other cichlid in the tank. Pretty little compared to Porkchop but is a feisty little male and will go head to head with the female pearsei. He will back down and run if she gets serious with him but its fun to watch him think he is all that.

Okay so there is just a little update for the time being.

usually I am not a huge fan of Oscars...but that one is breathtaking. Is that a tiger oscar?

in regards to shed: it looks super nice. could probably sell it as a tiny house.

I like a few Oscars but not all. I like ones with nice wild caught patterning and Red Oscars. This one I lost due to an infection and it was not a tiger but a 'Bumblebee Oscar'

The shed has become a joke between my friend and I. We started with just a simple plan and it started to just get fancier and fancier. It does match our house well. We did a Craftsman design to it and the shed so it looks really cool.
