Use strong suction cups to secure your plants...you can zip tie your plants to a piece of driftwood then tie your driftwood to a suction cup. That will leave you will a bare bottom.

Looks good to me.
Like others said there are other options, as far as planters go.
I use plain jane plastic small pots in my breeder tanks so I can move them around when I vac. the gravel. the rest of the tanks are planted and I just vac around them.
Have you seen your gar just sit on the top of the plants yet? it's pretty cool mine does it without smoosh'n everything.

As I said in your other thread and others have mentioned here. Move or lose that pleco. Maybe not today or tomorrow but sooner or later he's gonna suck a hole in that gar.
Gars are not apex predators. They are in the food chain not on top of it. unless you get a allyGar.

Cool oxymoron too "bare bottom planted tank."
I kinda like it.

Agree with removing the pleco. Honestly I find the planters look ok in the setup and if you like it keep it. If you wanted to do bare bottom with plants I would suggest using plants that can be tied to driftwood. In case you don't know water wisteria and sprite can be tied onto driftwood and it will grow well
