updates on recently aquired Armatus...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Im glad you guys like it... it's taking twice as long as i thought... ironing out details. hope it works.

redline=micro? no that's a mamorata crenchila, the micro is in another tank.

I've been thinking about rays lately but don't know a thing about them. time to study up. The news about fang have got me concerned though.

Those cases are very rare. My male leopoldi got stung b4 and he pulled through, though I could see he was in a lot of pain. Fang was stung in the eye and that's an area where lots of nerves are. Poor Fang...

Mad ness..... Your tank is so friggin tall I wouldn't worry about a ray stinging anything.

They are easy to care for provided water quality is tip top. I had to put a drip system on my pond cause I was unable to do enough water changes to keep it quality. I was doing 50%s daily and it wasn't enough (9 rays). They are very messy and excrete lots of waste so water is best kept good with a drip system (new water constantly flowing into the tank.)

Pics of your stock is frigging insane. Is that a Rio Trombeta Marm I see in second
pic on post 26?

Right Im using drip, can not imagine water changes. it takes 7-8 hours to fill with a single garden hose. rigged up a level sensor and electronic water switch.

noticed the armatus they're always crusin low. i guess I'll have to monitor the new situation.

I was thinking to put the rays in another tank 8w x 3.5d x 3 tall with a current working cohab consisting of large micro/arowana/mono pbass. Or with a highend dedicated Pbass tank (current atf etc tank).

how do rays do with water flow? another issue is food. I'll try to convert the atf/cuda/payara once in the new tank as there's more food to dodge one another but not sure how much success I'll have. picking up unfed food in this tank is a very involved procedure. i guess it could work if the others ate live and the dead food went to bottom feeders. how do rays do with big cats? thanks

Yuor tank is amazing. Brother you are in HK too? I would like to find Armatus but it seems that all were out of stock now.
Pity

update. They are about a foot now. tanks 9ft and getting way too small. having delays on the new tank. one of the smaller GATFs have had a gill ripped and hanging out of in the open, but appears to be doing fine, eating, it's been weeks. notice the gash on one of the cudas.
