So I've decided to upgrade my RTG's Tank within the next month and I just got a few questions about BOWFRONT VS STANDARD tanks. Both the tanks dimensions here are 72"Lx24W" and 24"H(standard) 29"H(BowFront)

Questions:
Which is better?
Will there be more hassle in maintenance from one compared to other?
Should I get the bowfront or the standard 180g Tank?

Any other opinions welcomed!

Thanks.

i say go standard
but it comes down to what you like
IMO id go with a rectangle but its really up to you

hows your rtg doing by the way

Yah I've got deals going for both dimension tanks and I like both of them very much Also to make things a plus the bowfront is a really good deal... soo good that its kinda hard to pass on. But I've seen it tonight and i'm having doubts about the front curve cause I have a feeling it would distort the front view. But I'm not sure... I've never had a bowfront b4 so I dont know if the curve would make whats inside the tank look different... Would it? and what do you guys think? Is there more people here leaning on the Standard Rectangle tank? Compared to Bowfront?

My RTG is doing great, thanks for asking. I can see he's gaining his confidence back and is becoming more his playful/curious self. He still has the 2 top spines broken on his tail but the bottom half of the tail is growing a little everyday. The Scales are growing too.... growing very very fast actually I'm surprised.

I had a 46 bowfront before. Yes, it does destort the view a little from different angles. Personally, I prefer rounded acrylic corners or half hex. I heard stories on another forum that bow front has a tendency to leak when you go over 80g. When I drain the tank the whole front panel would cave in on my 46g. It's was kind of scarey watching that.

Cave in? really? like actually bend when you drain water out with a siphon? Thats scary.... I dont know... But yes I've read on other forums and have seen people mention leaking problem... Though I dont know how much truth is in that.

Yes, like it bends inward a couple of millimeters when the tank is drain more than 50%. Make sure your tank has a good center brace if you get a bow front. The one I had was made by AGA.

I got it used off someone on CL. I used it for well over a year without any leaks or issue. I sold it dirt cheap so I could get my monster tank. There are certain tanks I would never buy in my opinion. I would never buy a rimless tank or a bow front bigger than 80.
