I rent a small house so I'm limited on the number and size of the tanks, decided last night that I'm going to get rid of 2 x 55 Gallon tanks and get a 125 Gallon tank.

I have a pair of GT's in one of the 55's I'm going to get rid of that I want to put in the 125 Gallon, however I need some help on rounding out the stock list for the tank. I like the looks of Gold Sev's, JD's and (if possible) a school of Clown Loaches, but beyond that I have no idea what to add. I have been searching around this site for ideas on others that have setup a 125 Gallon but still unsure.

Not a big fan of the SD's for dithirs, will anything else work? Would prefer a colorful tank.

This is going to be a 3 month project as I want to make sure I have all the bases covered and not rush into things.

Why not just keep the GT pair and add dithers such as Tinfoils, Balas, or like you said Clown Loaches.

Because if I'm devoting what little space I do have to 1 large tank I would prefer something else in there as well.

We'll if you do decide on Jack Dempsey then maybe a male Convict would do-Severum might work.
JD and a Convict or better yet a Salvini-perhaps those threee could work in a 55 gallon. Don't know of many colorful dithers out there?

Looking for a stock list for a 125 gallon - not a 55 gallon, I'm upgrading from a 55g to a 125g and the two GTs are what is currently in the 55g.

125 gallon
Then yes you could have a Severum and a Jack Dempsey and you could probably add two more cichlids-I would recommend medium sized such as Salvini. Cuban, or even another GT.

Np, and thanks...

So thinking...

2 x GT (Proven Pair)
2 x Severum (1 Gold, 1 Red)
1 x JD
1 x Cuban

That sound about right?

I would imagine the GTs would breed since at 1.5" they have bred in the 55 Gallon. I have some cherry barbs in the 55 Gallon that I am using as dithirs and they (the GTs) haven't done anything to them from spawning to now free swimming fry.
