Upgrading....

I build all of our stands and hoods...it's a lot cheaper and I can design them the way I like. Here in southern California we can pick up a 100 gallon glass tank...wooden stand glass tops and t-5 lights for $286.00.

Thanks for the comments guys.....about to head out to lfs and place my order....scary!

Something that should be remembered about UK vs. US prices is that very often exchange rates don't come into it. Cost of living, therefore cost of everything is higher here. If something costs $100 in the states, you can bet it will cost £100 here in the UK. Last time I was in California, a pair of Levis cost me $32, back here in the UK, same pair were priced at £32.

Don't forget, you have 260-300million people, we have something like 60million - it's all about the scale of the economics. Therefore you will probably be able to pick up stuff at half the price I would.
Does that make sense to everyone?

Anyway, I'll let you know what I've decided in a few hours....1st MONSTER tank! - god help me.

And I will be taking pics of the whole process, including a rather awkward stand extension! That at least I feel confident in building! Wish me luck...

Well, its ordered! Pick up the tank in about a week, and the hood will be back from the workshop end of the first week in august....Monster!

Should be nice - 72" x 18" hood in Cherry wood. Yum!
