Cheers! DMD123 DMD123 any insights into my weeksii’s behaviour?
I almost rehomed my weeksii because I never saw it. Plus it did not seem to grow or eat. I ended up taking out its hiding cave just to be able to see it. Not that this helped it overcome shyness but it was at least out to see.

My biggest help came from Burbotman Burbotman (who has a monster weeksii). He suggested night feeding after lights are off. My weeksii started putting on size after doing this. Sad that I cant see the guy eat but happy that it is thick and healthy. I still night feed to this day and have only seen the thing eat a couple times in all the years I have had it.

As the weeksii grew it did become more confident and swims all over the tank now but still a shy feeder. Hang in there and be patient with it.

Vancouver_98683 Vancouver_98683 also grew some weeksii, i also think he has one growing right now.

Have 2 Weeksii going on at the moment. A 6" & 8" . Owned several others in the past as well (9"-17") When small or 12" below. These are their tendacies i have observed:

* Shy. More so if there are big poly tankmates
* Hides behind decor or other polys
* Appetite fluctuates. Does not like being watched. Rarely see them go for more than 2 or 3 pieces of tilapia or pellets.
* Prefers eating in the dark
* Prefers the back of the tank
* rarely goes up for air, lol. Seriously......lol

As they age and get larger. In most cases. They'll swim around and be a bit more inquisitive.

Thanks man, I may have to try night feeding then.

All the weeksii i've owned (6) had brown tones. Substrate were red and now purple. Im sure when i move the smaller (6") up to the main tank w/purple garnet. It'll get darker.

Soba is the mokelembembe from magpie magpie . I’m still trying to get his patterns to show as prominently as when they were in a heavily planted tank. I think part of it is that I can’t grow green plants very well. Algae is easy.
