Forgot to mention...how about an African Knife Fish (Xenomystus Nigri)?

my bichirs are two sengals, 6" and 7" and a 6" ornate. ive thought about getting an afreican brown knife, and some more bichirs, ones that wont grow as large as my ornate. ill be moving in august into a house, instead of an apartment so ill be able to get a bigger tank, but atm a 90g is the largest i can have. i have a BGK in a 55g, maybe ill put him in. the plan was to grow them a bit, then when i move i want to get a large tank, get it set up over in my new place and move a bunch of fish into it after its set up, so i can then move my other tanks over, so the fish dont have to wait for me to resetup their tanks. thanks for all the info :).

i like the butterfly fish idea... thats a cool fish (now i want one)

but, i have sengals that DO use the top and middle. i have a bubble strip in the back of the tank next to where the filter dumps in, and they are constantly playing in the current, and on the otherside of the tank i have a powerhead for current facing down at maybe a 45* angle, pointing at the side glass, which makes a good current across the front of the tank and they are always playing in that...

perhaps all you need are a little water movement adjustments, and more bichir :headbang2

i definetly need more bichirs, but they aint cheap, my next ones will be online orders, as only ones around here seem to be sengal. i have a system of under gravel jets, they are pvc running below my sand, with 6 outlets to move water along the bottom, my sengal plays in it, but my ornate seems afraid of it, so i tuned down the power but the ornate still wont go near the jets, hmmmm. maybe ill crank em up and teach the ornate the wonders of current.

I think a Leopard Leaf Fish and an African Butterfly would be a great addition. Stick with an African theme. It's cool. Maybe even some Congo Tetras.
I am waiting for the LFS to get some African butterflies, I would skip on the Congo tetras, I just found out that an albino senegal can eat a suprisingly large Congo even at only 5 inches!:(

Yeah I was going to add congos to my tank also but decided they would be too small. But then again for some reason they wouldn't eat these 4 small goldfish feeders out of the 20 that I originally bought. They been there for months now :screwy: . Before that I had feeder guppies and they left a couple of them alone and they started to breed lol. With bichirs you just never really know I guess.
