UPS battery air pump

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the 4w must be what it uses while powered (flipped) never secen that before, that that i have years of exsperince lol

it should have a picture on it some where showing which spades are normally closed and which are opened.

When powered the pole (switch lever) will be switched to certain spades probably more then you need. this is the path you want you AC power to flow so that the air pump is powered by the AC. You will also need an AC power to throw the switch which gets hooked up to the two spades by themselves.

The poles will stay in this state until power is lost when they go to there resting state. This is the path you want your battery to go to and then on to an inverter is neccecarry.

A little google-ing and you should easily figure out how they work and then understand what you need.

Thanks for the response!

Something I've been thinking about is setting this UPS up so that the whole thing only turns on when the power goes out - having the option of the air pump constantly running, or only running when the power goes out.

This would be helpful for a backup filter - I could have a powerhead in the tank that feeds a large sealed tube filled with chemical filtration such as amonia absorber and carbon. This would remain unused until the power goes out, at which point it kicks in - using a spray bar at the end would also help airate the water.

Any ideas?

Sound like a pretty good plan. Just keep track off amps and how long your battery will last. Just need to have both power supplies wired to one outlet and just the one power supply wired to the other one.

it should have a picture on it some where

All I have seen have a diagram of the "pin outs".
Might even google the relay for a larger, easier to fathom drawing.

Good advice - I think I will continue reading and learning and then go back to the salesman with some idea of what I'm doing, and pick his brain instead of wasting his time :)
