All loricariids are from south america. Just because it is found in the waters of Florida does not make it 'native'. It is an illegal act to release a fish into wild waters. Plecos can have detrimental effects on native waters as well, which is why there is a possible ban on the loricariidae family in the US. Do not think it is OK in any way, don't think that no one can do anything. We must do everything we can or we may loose all of these great fish.milkman407;701517;701517 said:If its a normal pleco than no one can do anything about it. Normal plecos are all over floridas waters. I dont know if they are native here, but they are now. Every spring i've been to has plecos, every lake I fish at I've cought/seen plecos. My pond behind my house has a pleco in it. People just dont understand that even though a pleco dident screw with the cycle of life some fish will.
