my lfs is closing and they have a helathy upside down castfish for 25bucks withou their 30% discount.sould i buy it and keep with my polys and knife. can it be kept in a 60g for life?

Do you know what species it is? I've seen some fairly large synos, some that would make a 60g look cramped.

What fish are you guys talking about.
Upside down Castfish and Slorida gar.

LOL.

Not sure what polys you have, but it might end up as dinner for even a full grown senegal. Also I dunno about prices in your area, but thats pretty steep around here, especially for a meal :grinno: Really it depends on the personality of your fish and how many caves and hiding places are available, imo.

Most S. nigriventris sold are quite small. If your bichirs are full grown already, they may attempt to eat the poor catfish and both may die in the process. A lot of catfish have serrated spines. What knife do you have? A young BGK could work but the adults will eventually outgrow your tank. Clown knives aren't an option either.

Like every one says it does really depend on the fishes character... But is testimonial is worth any I have two pictus with my bichirs.... They staked out a territory and rarely leave it. The bichirs swim freely through it... I guess they know not to mess with the higher end of the food chain..
