Urau, Brasiliensis or Pellegrini?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My pandas were F1 from Jeff, and even though they were very active and grew like weeds, they still got HITH despite regular water changes and a varied diet. Others have said they experienced the same thing. If I had soft water I'd still have them.

Yeah, I'm not going to get the pandas.

What about having the pellegrini and the uaru in there? Do you think 2 breeding pairs would do aright, or will I always have a bunch of fish with damaged fins?

Thanks, he fixed his post after I posted TUIC?... It's just been awhile since I have seen that:D
Sure will keep you all posted, I love picture threads;)

I read that they're usually expensive... but I'm hoping that they are, I think they had like 50 of them when they first came in, and they have the pics of what they look like when they get bigger. Never really been into geophagus, they're actually $20 for the pair(juvies) but he told me $8 a piece when I asked without looking at the price.

As mentioned above for that price they are likely steiny's not true pellegrini but none the less I think steiny's are awesome fish and don't get huge but their attitudes do. :D

I think you would be fine mixing the two considering you have a larger tank coming. Some food for thought: I have a Uaru pair mixed with a geopahagus abalios group and rotkeil/gold severums in a 6x2 setup and it's way too small. I got them a larger 8x2 tank and will see how it goes but I'll still have to thin out my stock or start another tank soon.. My Uaru female is the largest and most aggressive in the tank.

I'll talk with them to make sure they are pellegrini, if I have any doubt I might go ahead and get the braziliensis, I really think they are an underrated fish... They had small ones for $5.99 and 2 XXL(one was 6" and the other 5"ish) and they were $20 a piece.

I think they are beautiful too. Very colorful and they get pretty large. :D

Yeah:)
They're only XXL compared to the 2"ers that they have in with them;)...
I might just look around at anymore geos that they have because now with me deciding to get rid of the dats I have more possibilities.
