so we got this urchin , dont know what tpye its just black. If u realize its my first post in sw and we dont know diddly about sw. We got this urchin and i really would like some help from urchin keepers on what they can tell me. food? temp? tankmates? anything would help. Thanks in advanced :D

lots of LR and a well established tank are generally considered requisite

yeah its a well established tank...need to work on the live rock though then.

they graze for most of their food

if it's an old enough tank, as long as there's some kind of (and enough) decoration it should still work

20 pounds of LR kind ='s 20 pounds of 1 year old base rock or resin decoration..

i have no idea what kind it is...the spines are about an inch big. i would have to post a pick for proper id i guess. Its in a 29g with a clown fish and some turbo snails

more like this?

might be Centrostephanus rodgersii.. would you happen to know where it came from?
it's pretty common and from australia i believe

its probly a long spine. it eats algae and you can supplement its diet with dried nori. temp 75 to 82 degrees farenhite. and he will eventuly grow out of your tank. if its what im thinking it be 6 months till he dose but by then the spins should be 16in.
