URGEN, URGEN!!! NEED HELP ON RAY. WHITE STUFF EATING RAY'S BODY

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you suspect it is bacterial do water changes and use binox. If you suspect it was an ammonia spike just do water changes. If you are confident it was an ammonia spike I see no reason to add the binox possibly causing future ammonia spikes.

Good luck, hope to see pictures of them healing soon :)

That is not caused by ammonia, I have seen new rays come in infected with a fin rot type bacteria present but not show any signs until you put them into a new system. Both the old and new ray become stressed and the bacteria takes hold

Thats what i was thinking Fishdog, I read that somewhere on here when i was bored and searching around for a few hours lol.

I am concerned about you saying there is the rays' waste on the bottom of the pond... U should def look at a bigger pump if its not getting the waste off the bottom, or angle your return towards the bottom.... Im running close to 10X turnover rate and never have any waste on the bottom just sitting there. just a helpful hint

I added a FX5 into my pond on top of my existing filter. The pond water volume is around 180 G. I did 25% water change, added 5 teaspoon of Binox (1 teaspoon per 25 G) and raised the temp to 86. Hopefully that dose of medicine will prevent the infection to spread out further. All of them are eating fine and swimming actively so i hope they will be strong enough to fight off the infection.
I have this question: Jungle's direction is to do 25% water change every 4 days and added more medicine according to the water volume. However i want to do 15% water change on the daily basic until they heal and planning to add 1 teaspoon of Binox. In addition, should i still add more salt on the daily basic and does prime, water conditioner give them any negative effect? Thank you all.

WOW WOW WOW not so high on the temp. just keep it around 82 at the max i would say... they live better in 75-80 so 82 is more than plenty i'd say.

AND STOP STOP adding salt.... to many chemicals will just stress the ray... prime and the binox is plenty... Prime is all u need for water changes

I have no idea what with her. Well, the white stuff disappeared today. They are all eating and seem to be recovering well. B, i don't think that black spot on her will disappear at all man.
