after returning form a trip of 3 days, i noticed that the scale of my RTG has some whitish thingy and its eyes are partially covered with white. it is not fungus. i assumed it has been burned by the uv light. can someone please advise me how to cure it? thank you

No way does the UV burn. ( I presume you have it in its covered casing, correctly installed )

Have you checked your parametres? May be ammonia burn.

thats the prob miguel, there was no casing , it was open in the water. i cant check my parameters and i dont think also its ammonia burn. right now im doing a water change, raise temp and adding salt.

i have not added salt, thinkin that it might burn more its skin. near the rim of gold scale, there are some traces of blood and some scales are darker which comfirm that it has been burned pretty bad. the anal fins are a bit torned and near the joint of the pectoral fins where it connects to the body, there's a bit of blodd clog. i raised the temp and did a water change. will do water change every day and hopefully it will improve. the fish is swimming normally but sometimes rub itself at the bottom as if its skin is itching

I'm also thinking ammonia burn.

Probable ammonia burn, if it was the UV light, the aro would probably just sit at the bottom to avoid it, but there's nowhere to hide when the ammonia is all through out the water. Add salt, it will not add more burning to the aro, it helps the fish recover and restore itself.

during the 2 years i have been keeping my aro, it's the first time its sick and its only recenltly i added the uv filter. so i guess that's the main culprit. also if it was ammonia burn, how come one side of the aro is more affected than the other side? it should be the same on the whole body as ammonia is in the water. i cannot test my water parameters because we dont have those kits here in mauritius XD
