So I got a new 125 gallon tank. I decorated it with slate stones siliconed together with ge window, door silicone without the mold inhibitors. I let it cure for almost 2 weeks before adding it to the tank. I rinsed it all off in the shower before adding it to the tank. I added gravel (rinsed off) and some decorations. I filled it 2/3 fresh water and 1/3 water from current tank. I made sure the ph and temp of the new tank were as close as possible to the current tank. I transferred the filter directly from one tank to the new one. then I transferred the fish. after the first night(Sat night) the pictus cat died. day 2 by this evening 6+ platys are dead. I still have 8 cories, 2 loaches, 4 skirted tetras and one irredescent shark in the tank. I added activated carbon to the filter and prime. filter is good for 175 gallons. tested water 0 amonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate, pH is about 6.5, temp is 75 degrees, it has 2 air stones and a spray bar. I have no idea why they are dying...what should I do? I took out all the ornaments, everything except the gravel and did a 85% water change...I hope it works...

Did you treat the fresh water you had put in the tank initially? I don't know, hopefully everything survives. Any weird markings or disfigurations on the dead fish? Also, irridescent sharks will get way too large for a 100 gallon. Online it says a minimum of 300 gallons to keep one, so may want to look at rehoming options unless you have a tank ready for him that size.

Power of prayer, ask god for help because that is how you will be guided to do next, only god and you can fix the problem. Believing is achieving.

This is the second post I've seen you make on this today, and its still dumb.

On another note, OP, if all of your water params are good like you said they are then I would start looking at the new decor. Double check the silicone you used to make sure it was the GE window/door without mold inhibitors and as a precaution I'd start removing the new rocks anyhow. Contamination is the silent killer of fish IME.

Lol I just hate when people, trolling or not, waste someone's time on here. This place is for advice and not everyone on here is experienced in fish keeping so why waste their time with stupid answers...the next time a higher power knocks your nitrates below 20 ppm you let me know and I'll add that to my fish med drawer...

Was the original tap water treated with dechlor? Or was the ph or temp of the new tank any different from the original one?

:irked: Since when is religion going to cure fish, the principles of biology, chemistry, and a bit of physics are factually the only main things that have to due with life inside an aquarium.

I treated the new water with Prime. I used a thermometer to make sure the new water going into the tank was the same temp as the water in the tank. The pH of my tap water (used in all tanks) is the same. So no major temp or pH swings. I changed out 85% of water last night and will do again today. No markings or disfigurement of dead fish. I took out all new decor and put in some of the old hides from the previous tank. I know the shark will get too big for my 125, I didn't know that 12 years ago when I got him. I have looked at rehoming options but have found any one yet with a bigger tank for him even checked the local aquarium and they won't take him. I just upgraded to this tank, if the opportunity ever arised (I look for tanks almost daily) I'll get him something bigger. Thanks
