URGENT Gulper question.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
that sounds like a great plan. I would make sure that when you introduce him make sure that you introduce him into their tank after they have established their pecking order. That way he is the outsider coming in. Seems to work better when you introduce larger fish to smaller fish than vice versa. I have never kept gulper so can't speak on it, but yeah I would definitely go with everyone else's advice on not putting them together til they are closer in size. I don't think you could keep a gulper well fed enough to keep him from seeking more food. By their very nature they are opportunistic and designed to take advantage of an easy meal since they may not get another one for a long time in the wild. In the wild if they happen upon much smaller gulper I can say for sure what might happen, but the little ones would be gone and the larger one would not be hungry anymore lol. I don't even like to keep any species of predatory catfish that is more than 25% out of each other's size range together. If it can fit they will try.

FYI-----Bigger Gulpers will consume smaller ones! I tried to introduce the big guy tonight. As soon as big guy hit the water my little guys went to investigate, big guy quickly turned and try to swallow one, thank God I had the net to intercept the GULP!!! LOL I'm soo lucky....Thanks guys
