if your tank started out with barebottom and ur putting rocks now... chances it thinks its food..

The fish has always been in a tank with substrate, its a mix of sand and gravel. These were just some larger rocks I was putting in to add a bit more variety. He's used to picking up stuff off the bottom as I always throw in extra shrimp to feed the ornate and he usually grabs most of it, so it was all too familiar for him picking up something that I'd just dropped in there, even with me chasing him away.

I've fed him a few pellets, still seems hungry as ever...

Those rocks must be real tasty.:D Aro can taste food. And if it eat rock, this mean the rock taste good~:D

My 30" silver pulled my digi-thermometer into the tank and swallowed it...came back up a week later...

I heard someone did surgery on there fish to remove stones idk if its a thread.

4 years ago, my 1 ft. kelberi swallowed some large gravel and I thought it was no big deal. It started sitting at the bottom of the tank and died a few days later.

When I cut it open, I found the gravel still stuck in it's intestines.

I can't be 100% sure that's what killed it, but it's pretty likely.

Not to sound inappropriate or anything, but are their anus even large enough to pass such stones?

Did you feed it at all in that time?

Thats what I'm worried about. I've never seen him poop so I've got no idea how big it is, but I'm guessing its going to be painful!
