Im trying to set up a 20 gallon long and the location i intended to keep it is slightly smaller than it needs to be.

All 30 inches of length fit easily, but the width of the base has a slight overhang, we're talking less than an inch.. I can also reposition the tank so the overhang is split .5" on each side...

Is it possible for me to set my tank up here, or do I need to find another option?

Can you slide a piece of 3/4" ply wood under it?

Go to Home Depot... they have some there.

As long as the tanks length is suported, the width is only .5" per side, the variance and weight exerted on that little of an area will be fine...But it is way easier to find a proper topper than your making it.

Get 2 pieces of 1" angle iron or even metal strips and top your stand with it...A couple of holes to secure it and you have your width plus tons of support.

when you say width are you talking front to back?I wouldnt want it hanging over that way.If its the ends of the length of the tank then I wouldnt worry about it.

sounds simple enough but i was hoping to set the tank up at this bar like counter top so drilling isnt so much an option

the base of the tank is 30"x12"

all 30" are covered, its the 12" side that over hangs

Still not clear. Is the stand 30x11 or 29x12?
Like Gomez said
29x12=ok
30x11=not me

the 12 inches of width that overhangs evenly on both sides by less than half an inch should be fine imo
