Ok i don't know how but i think one of my 5 snakeheads has ick i noticed the white dont's and a swollen anal hole. I do not feed these guys feeders at all, only frozen foods and some pellets...I asked a worker at Big Al's aquarium service if there was any natural ways to get rid of ick and he told me to feed them garlick. Does this work, because i heard to many water changes can kill snakeheads (so i don't want to use medicine) and that snakeheads are intollerant of salt so thats out of the equation.

trust me....white little dots, and a red anal hole, first stage. I covered up my tank and put weights on the lid so that theres not a single milameter opening...I raised the temp up 2 degrees ferinhiet and i will continue to do that until the temp gets to 89 then i'll let it stay at 89 for a couple days...there is no way these guys can jump out however i would like to know if there is any other way they can die by me doing this...

Are they getting an air supply? If you have an air pump, the pump could be pumping bacteria into the tank (possible). I had 2 bleheris in the past, and 1 got ich and they were fine afterwards. Maybe month after that they started getting bladder problems and passed away.

believe it or not garlic can help, i had two geophagus jurupari with hith and we used garlic drops from kent it actually helped. see the good thing about garlic is that its natural so it doesnt hurt the fish. its actually good for them too. garlic is kind of like an aphrodisiac of sorts, it boosts the fishes appetite. if you ever have fidh that arent eating put a few drops of garlic on their food, they'll eat it right up, you dont need to worry about water changes you can safely use garlic everyday and do your regular weekly water changes with no stress to the fish. i say try it its natural and i, like you dont really like using harsh medications either, puts unnecessary stress on the fish. the garlic is relatively inexpensive and any lfs should carry it if you need anything else let me know.

i've been keeping a pair of channa bleheri for about 6months now and they are doing great (appears so anyways).

i do a 75% water change maybe every 3 weeks, daily if i notice some type external irritation like cloudy eye, or something funny looking on the body.

i also give them a 20min salt bath 1 liter water, 4 teasspoons table salt maybe twice a month for any given circumtstance, and they seem to really look/feel great afterwards.

well my temperature is now up to 86 it has been so for the last day and a half...i'm alittle worried about them they seem to be huddling around each other and scratching on the rocks ....I'm assuming the scratching is cause by the increase in temperature irritating there scales. My bleheri are about 3 inchs each one of them is 2.5 and one of them is 3.5 but the other three are 3 inchs. Would any of you recomend that i drop them temperature, or should i leave it for a week like the directions that web site says to.
