My RTC has always been very healthy and very well looked after without any problems but the last few days he won't eat as much and I noticed tonight that his face and whiskers look red and sore and the tips of his whiskers are curling and look floppy :( i'v just done a 75% water change and turned the light off and now he is swimming upright with his mouth on the surface the only thing that has changed is i have been treating the tank with waterlife myxazin could it be this? And what is the best thing to do now?

Seems to result from very poor water condiion.

Your params must have been sky high

Hope he improoves with the wc

Check water parameters. If they check out my second and third guess would be internal parasites and bad water quality. I would also stop medicating the tank. Some meds are bad for scaleless fish like catfish.

Sometimes they do go on food strikes but that doesn't explain the awkward swimming

I say the test kit is faulty...shredding, limp, whiskers is ammo poisoning.

+1. Put the rtc in a bucket with freshwater and a air pump. Do another big water change and let it cycle before putting it back it. I would remove all decor and clean it extremely well. Also stop medicating unless absolutely needed.
