I just did a water change on my heater and the glass shattered from my heater. I had to quickly take it outside, it smells like burnt glass. Is the water going to electricute me if I put my hand in it? What about my fish?

Please tell me what to do!!!

It can't "electrocute" you if you unplugged it! Especially if you "took it outside"! Just make sure there are no glass fragments in the tank.

this happened to me last month. unplug it. are the fish ok? scoop all the glass out, even if it mixed wid substrate.

dont worry about it , my aunt had a broken heater in her tank running for weeks before she noticed..crazy lady! her fish were fine.

No you wont get electrocuted as you have removed the heater. I had this happen and yes it stinks! I did a large water change and again the next day. Fish were fine. You need to remove all the glass. Mine didn't shatter it just broke in big pieces which were easy to get out.

fish seem to be incredibly tough when it comes to electricity, i work at a pet store and on more than one occasion something has mal-functioned and gave me or another worker a little shock, but didn't kill off any fish. amazing

you shud be find man, i ould invest in a non glass heater next time

Fish will not get electro. they are not grounded, however, we will when we put out hand in the water because we are grounded.
Bingo!
