The only thing for it is to keep it submerged and keep changing the water till the ph comes down.Adding buffers now will slow down or stop the process, you want the water to be neutral or acidic. If you can use RO or distilled water that would be best.
you want the ph around 9 for tanganyikans any way, the lime in concreate will have adverse affects i would not use that

He said the fish arent in yet,my suggestions are to get the tank stabilized asap so he can put them in.

well i dont think that i can apply any different cements or sealers now that i already have it submerged. You guys are telling me that the salts wont work, but i'm pretty sure that i heard they help somewhere around here on mfk. What is RO?

Is your background able to be removed from the tank? If not, empty the tank and let the concrete dry. If you are able to, bring the tank outside and let it dry for a couple days. Then add the sealer.

Less dense concrete will leach for a while, not sure how long, but adding things to drop the PH while concrete is increasing the PH is only going to be a war zone. Eliminate the issue instead of putting a bandaid on it.

actually, forget the resin, too much of a hastle unless you really think this is the way to go and save me tons of time. Right now I just have dechlorinated tap water and im checking the water a couple times a day and when it is higher than 7, i add 20 drops of ph down. Hopefully this will cause the concrete to leech faster, or will it not?

Not as fast as you want it to leach. I have read it takes months for it to stop if you don't use the right mix.
