I'm in a bind this morning. I have three aquariums setup. A 90 gallon Angelfish/Severum tank (6 angelfish, 2 severums, a pleco, and a small school of an unknown, peaceful largish tetra species), a 75 gallon species specific tank consisting of a small group of African buffaloheads aka African lionheads (Steatocranus sasuarius), and a 56 gallon lightly stocked community aquarium consisting of various barbs, tetras, and bristlenose plecos.

I've never had any problems with the Angels and Severums together until this weekend. The severums have spawned and are now exhibiting more aggressive behavior towards their tank mates. To quell the situation in the mean time, my thought is to move the two severums and the rock with the eggs on it to the 75 gallon tank by themselves and move the buffaloheads/lionheads in with the Angelfish. I've done a bit of research this morning, but haven't found anything related to the compatibility of the lionheads and Angels. Both groups of fish are relatively peaceful. Can I mix these fish together? Again, I'm not looking for a long term fix here, necessarily, but an immediate and at least temporary solution to the problem.

Also, the tetras in the 90 gallon have no problem with the angels. Again, they are an unknown species to me, but behave as your typical tetra species. If the tetras would be incompatible with the buffaloheads, I could easily move them into the 56 gallon community tank without causing any problems!

I'm hoping that someone (or a group of someones) can reply to this in the next hour or so as I need to take care of this situation ASAP!

Thanks

I never got a response, but I've had my Angelfish and buffaloheads in the same tank for a few days now. No problems at all. The buffaloheads stay on the bottom of the tank and the angels in the upper water. I've got the tetras in with them too. If anyone else is ever interested in trying something different, I'd recommend trying out these two peaceful cichlid species together.
