Urgent, Need Help, Medical Adivice

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
so sorry to hear this. Was it a skin mass or a lymph node? Was there any diagnostics done?

My dog had over a dozen tumors, mostly lymph nodes. Died of natural causes at 15, lab border collie mix. My condolences, but could have been you right, just the luck if the draw. Life's unfair.

About 36hr after the fight, she had 2 lymphs start to swell beneath a seroma ; within 96hr 3 lymphs in neck and one on chest started to swell. Now that she is on meds the tumors are going into remission. The one on her chest disappeared and the ones on her neck are a lot smaller but my vet assures me they will come back. She's in really good spirits and has a huge appetite. We have been feeding her 3-4 times a day home made steak stew with brussel sprouts enriched with fish oil and she gets an avocado or two. My family is practically hysterical with thought of losing Kua. Any advice on what foods are best to have her on(read conflicting reports), we have cut out sugar and any processed food. T Thekid

She started on prednisone on Saturday(first visit) and the tumors have shrunk a lot, not completely though. My vet didn't recommend chemo because the size of the tumors and number of sites and the speed at which they developed. Its hard to think she is sick because is behaviorally unchanged with high energy and a great appetite. Its been fun cooking for her, boiled salmon/vegetable dish and beef/vegetable and unsalted sardines in water once every week or two. I go back to vet tomorrow and I think he will discuss more treatment options, we really want to push for chemo, unless its really going to prolong suffering, I really do respect my vets opinion and have used him for some time but seeing she's so healthy aside from tumors sites; we want to do all we can. Upon my own research it seems dogs don't respond well to chemo treatments after pred, so I'm little annoyed my vet made that decision without giving me a run down on pred. I'm going to call another clinic and see their treatment options.

Wailua Boy Wailua Boy how is she?

Hopefully she's not feeling too bad.

She's gone into complete remission, tumors have shrunk to nothing. We can't believe it. She's been rallying for us. We are still taking it one day at a time, hoping for best but still expecting the worst. T Thekid

So, I've been lurking on this thread since it started.. I'm glad the tumors have shrunk, and I hope they stay that way for you and don't come back. She's being a very tough cookie by the sounds of things. :) Good luck with her and give her a big belly rub for me. :D
