well, i can just say that i used the blue stuff before and that stuff just made me angry.

so i boycotted ich meds after using the salt/heat treatment and havent gone back.

Good to hear they have joined the 21st century in fish medication

I'm just one of those people that doesnt use meds unless absolutely necessary.

From my experience, Ick on my fish are usually cause by two things: temp. swing and stress. Since you just got your fish, they are probably due to stress. What temp. are you keeping them in anyway?

Your fish is just starting to get Ick. Increase you water temp. slowly to 86F but make sure you have lots of air to help the fish breath. If you don't have salt, temp. inc. should be fine till you get them. With the temp. inc. you will see a big difference overnight. Ich is easy to treat.

One table spoon per 5 gallons of water, Raise the temp to 87 degrees......Ich has several cycles of life and so go about your water changes as usual but pay close attention to the gravel Vac. Once the Orbs fall off your fish suck them out of there, Add back the salt from the water you changed and do this until your fish are Orb free for two weeks. Then slowly lower you temp back to normal, and do the water chages as per the norm. ICK is a freashwater cold water parasite and so the salt and heat will get rid of it for you....Do not be fooled by the orbs falling off in a few days two weeks minimum.......Ick treatments, coppersafe and the like are a fools game, get to know the parasite, how it lives then you can attack it and kill it......D
Kosher salt works just fine, no need to buy "aquarium salt" Iodine free is what you are looking for.....89 cents per at the local market......
