Urgent!

With out being offensive, its a bit confusing to me that you would keep fish and not either A have test kits or B take the water to ANY pet store and have them test? Just because other fish are fine means nothing. Even if you can't see anything doesn't mean someone else wouldn't have pictures are always helpful. You're post had no information in it other then your fish is upside down which could have a number of causes; you would need to give way more details if you wanted help.

thanks for the suggestion guys but to be honest (not trying to be defensive in any form), the fishkeeping culture in my country is totally different. no one actually brings water to LFS to get em check and all. i knw u guys do it and thats good but even if i wanted to do that my LFS will think im nuts. well i guess its alright then, will lay off the ornates!

Bro, my LFS doesn't even know about the nitrogen cycle... But reputable fish stores like c328 knows. but they don't provide water testing.

Forget the water parameters. Bichirs don´t care about water parameters as long its fresh water. I think he was sick

So I could keep them in 8ppm ammonia and 8 ppm nitrite and he would be happy as can be? thats a misleading statement they care, they are just more tolerant.

ever saw where they live in nature? Of course we should give them good quality water, but a bichir does not die just from bad water quality.

ok enough. get back to helping the op out. other discussions can be had on other threads.

Titus, there's nothing much members can help with unless you give more information on the situation. pictures definitely help and providing the water parameters will help a lot.

also, you will need a test kit. might be a bit pricey for the whole set but its as necessary as filtration (ok not as necessary, but you get the idea)

My mistake I didn't mean to derail this thread, however given the lack of info not sure what help he would get? also given the fact that we all told him no help with no info and he said he wasn't going to be able to give any info and that he just was not going to keep this fish I would have assumed that this thread was over.

what is the point of conversation if you can't talk about where it leads you, as long as you provide the help requested?
