hi, today i came home from school and found that one of the snakeheads i picked up recently was dead. I examined the body, no marks, discolorations, or infection, no apparent problems with the fish on the outside. I was wondering if any of you know what this might be a result of?

Im not completely sure but i think the stomach seemed have been a bit swollen, and the rectum was inflamed. (don't hold me to this but it was the only think i thought mint be different, there was no substantial swelling, just the anal cavity seemed to be larger than that of my other snakeheads)

i have 6 other snakeheads all eating and doing well, I've been watching them for a few hours while writing my essay and i occasionally see them scratching themselves on the gravel substrate? is this an indication of anything, it's very seldom, maybe once or twice every couple of hours (at least that's all i observed, i can't be sure if they did it more than that).

Im going to do a water change tonight before i sleep, anyone experience anything similar? thanks for the help

edit: just remember a couple more things
a couple more things to note, after i took out the dead snakehead i decided to hand feed them some shrimp, i got all of them to eat and some of them to jump out of the water to grab the food from my hand. and lastly, i noticed that my snakeheads have developed these black blotches on their fins and body, a couple on their body but the vast majority are on the anal fin which has many black dots/blotches. There are quite a few of them which weren't there before. Is this an indication of anything?

what was the last thing you fed them?

i just spent the last hour doing a major wc + siphoning the gravel (A LOT of gunk came out), and i also raised the temperature incase of parasites.

if anyone offer any advice it would be greatly appreciated

Can u take pics of the black blotches ?

how high did you raise the temp, bleheri are sub-tropical and shouldn't really be higher than 22 degrees celcius

hard to take pics of, with the flash only the blue on the fin shows, without the flash you can't see it well.
