I caught some carp but have no idea if they were native or introduced.

Carp are not native to Europe, they are from Aisa.
According to the "Guide to Freshwater Fish of Britain and Europe" by Peter S. Maitland, the following are also established in parts of Europe. Before I only posted North American fish that people fish for.

Bighead Carp
Silver Carp
Common Carp
Grass Carp
Crucian Carp
Goldfish
Fathead Minnow
False Harlequin
Pejerry Silverside
Mummichog
Mosquito Fish
Chanchito Cichlid

The Karausche and Brassen are both native to Germany. I had to take a 45 hour course and pass a 100 question test before I could even get the documents to pay for a license to fish a specific body of water for a limited amount of time. Quite a pain but the Germans wouldn't have it any other way. During the course we talked about conservation of native fish and their habitats which included the two carps. We also talked about the introduction of American species. We didn't talk too much about the American fish, pretty much all of us were there to get a license to fish for the Wels.

To me the fish I caught looked like a big feeder gold fish so I couldn't tell if it was a German fish or an introduced fish. Both the Karausche and Brassen look similar to uncolored feeder goldfish and are classified in the carp family.

I dont recall seeing any sunfish or channels when i lived in Scotland but alot of trout and perch. That was also back in the 80s.

Hello,

NA Native Fish aren´t illegal here.
U can buy many like catfish, sunbass and so on in every LFS for your pond.

Just introducing into the wild is forbidden, If they catch u, u´ll get big problems.

"Karausche" is not a Native fish, it is a hybrid with a Native fish and Goldfish, and very common in nearly every lake/river.

Likely both the perch and salmon you saw were native.

Thanks for posting that information Glacier.

Odd list to be honest
.

It is odd, odd how specific it is. How do they know what cyprinids should be illegal?

So if you want the NA Natives in Germany it would be best to go to a pond store? I went to the LFSs around almost every army kaserne but never saw any for sale. Only the Texas Cichlid.

The instructor for the fishing class said the Karausche was native. Any links or anything that state where this fish actually comes from. I want my money back if Jurgen was wrong.
